Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye has stepped aside as the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Nigeria branch.
Pastor J.O. Obayemi has been named as Overseer for Nigeria alone.
Obayemi was a deputy in charge of Finance and a member of governing council, before his appointment.
A minister of the mission (on the condition of anonymousity), in the course of getting the details informed us that
Pastor Obayemi was announced as the Overseer for RCCG, Nigeria sequel to the new legal requirement by the Financial Regulations Council, guiding all registered churches, mosques and CSOs, that they can only lead their organizations for 20 years and cannot hand over to their families.
Adeboye, 74, was appointed general overseer of the church in 1981, taking over from Papa Akindayomi, who died the previous year.
